1954 Hubley, No.453 Kiddie Tow Truck in Original Box
Fantastic example from Hubley's Kiddie toy line; No. 453 Tow Truck. It's unsold store stock and was never played with. Comes complete with beautiful original box. The truck, designed after a '53 Ford, is all die cast metal. In fact the orange body and cab was also used the same year by Hubley for their No. 452 Stake Truck. The company merely replaced the bed sides to produce a different model. This explains why the underside of the chassis is embossed with "452" when the box has "453" printed on it. It is the correct box for this truck. It has a separate front grille assembly, trailer bed sides, tow hook and boom; all are painted silver and are die cast. The boom is movable. The tires are solid black rubber. The green, red, and black box has two repeated profile images of both sides of the truck. In one scene it's actually towing the No. 452 Stake Truck which the Tow Truck replaced! Size: 7½" (including boom). Sold: Dec. 2013
